Wavemote

Wavemote is an ultra-low-power hardware platform for Wireless Sensor Networks, operating in the 2.4GHz frequency band according to IEEE 802.15.4 standard (Zigbee-compatible). Wavemote is based on the well known Texas Instruments CC2420 radio chip and MSP430 low-power microcontroller, and has a modular hardware architecture, where each wireless device can be integrated with dedicated sensor boards.

Wavemote is compatible with open-source developing environment TinyOS. This feature, together with customization properties and technical support, allows to reduce time-to-market minimizing developing costs.

Wireless sensors

WaveComm actively collaborates with Department of Information Engineering of the University of Siena, on research projects involving wireless sensor networks technology.
Several applications based on Wavecomm platforms Wavemote (operating in the 2.4 GHz band) and WSN0868 (868 MHz) has been developed, where specific low-power custom sensor boards has been successfully implemented.
For instance, the Wavemote platform has been used in the framework of STArT project, funded by Regione Toscana, for realizing a wireless sensor network for environmental and structural monitoring in the city of San Gimignano.
