Sensors

Wavecomm developes radiofrequency sensors, for physical parameters measurements and electromagnetic field probing.

Physical parameters sensor: handhled sensor for snow humidity and density, realized for CNR-IFAC (Florence). The device is based on scattering parameters measurement in the frequency band (400 - 1800 MHz).



Electromagnetic field probes for environmental monitoring, electromagnetic pollution, safety measurements: broadband electric field [(100 kHz - 6 GHz) and (3 MHz - 18 GHz)] and magnetic field (300 kHz - 30 MHz) sensor probes.

Humidity sensor: resonance-type sensor for non-invasive measurement of material humidity, developed for building monitoring, civil engineering, and production process control.



Wireless sensors

WaveComm actively collaborates with Department of Information Engineering of the University of Siena, on research projects involving wireless sensor networks technology.
Several applications based on Wavecomm platforms Wavemote (operating in the 2.4 GHz band) and WSN0868 (868 MHz) has been developed, where specific low-power custom sensor boards has been successfully implemented.
For instance, the Wavemote platform has been used in the framework of STArT project, funded by Regione Toscana, for realizing a wireless sensor network for environmental and structural monitoring in the city of San Gimignano.
